Frills and bows are definitely not two things that come into my mind when I think about my personal style or the clothes that are in my closet. However, as much as I advocate how important it is to stay true to your style, it’s also healthy to step outside of your comfort zone and challenge yourself with pieces that you normally wouldn’t wear.
As much as I do like my clean and minimal cuts, along with many people in the blogging world, the ruffly and frilly sleeves trend totally won me over. I wasn’t able to buy as many tops with the detail since I knew it would be a fast-fashion piece that I would wear once or twice and never reach for again but I settled for this lovely zara top. I feel like the size of the frills and the frilliness of them make it easier to wear more frequently. I paired the top with these shorts from aritzia. I’ve been wanting them for a couple weeks and finally caved into buying them. Not owning any bottoms of this colour, I thought that it would be a nice summer piece to have and being able to take the belt out makes it versatile, which helps me style it frequently for various occasions. Both the top and shorts definitely made me feel and look a lot more ‘girly’ than I usually do and I actually enjoyed that! I really recommend everyone to challenge themselves with pieces that they normally wouldn’t reach for!
